According to recent reports, the messaging app WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is hard at work on a new function that would give users the opportunity to report status changes on desktop beta.

According to WABetaInfo, the newly added functionality will enable users to directly report a status update under a new menu located within the status section.

With the addition of this new feature, users will have the ability to notify the moderation team of any suspicious status updates that they believe may be in violation of the Terms of Service.

Much like the reported messages, the status update will be provided to the company for moderation reasons so that they may determine whether or not a violation has occurred.

Nevertheless, end-to-end encryption is not compromised by this function in any way.

Although it is impossible for anybody, even WhatsApp and Meta, to read the contents of users’ messages or listen in on their private calls, it is essential for the firm to have a report option in order to maintain the integrity of the platform and the safety of its users.

According to the source, the functionality to report status updates is currently being worked on and will be made available in an upcoming update of the beta version of WhatsApp Desktop.

In the meanwhile, the messaging platform had put out a new feature to certain beta testers the previous month that enables users to see profile images during group conversations on a desktop. This was done in the same month.
